A Rockfall protection system was used to mitigate the natural hazard.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>The occurrence of rockfall, when not prevented, can cause significant damage to property, injuries, or even death.<\/strong>\u202fCertain sections of the road are confined by cut-slopes along its perimeter, which is unprotected and presents the following risks: (1) erosion of soil \u2013 leading to slippery roads, (2) dislodgement of rocks leading to rockfall events, and (3) localized slope failure from surficial instability. Even small rockfalls or debris flows can block infrastructure and have far-reaching economic effects beyond the immediate disruption.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Recognizing the need for a more reliable and effective rockfall protection system, Maccaferri Philippines proposed a solution that will mitigate the rockfall risk posed to people and infrastructure in Claveria, Gingoog, Misamis Oriental, Philippines.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Constructing a slope protection system along these road sections will promote the road\u2019s resiliency and improve people\u2019s lives and well-being. Erosion prevention and rockfall mitigation are key elements in the security and safety of infrastructure, buildings, or people. The slope protection system is intended to stabilize rock faces and soil slopes, reducing risks and irreversible damage to life and properties.
